Behind the brand with 69b Boutique

Meet one of our beloved brand partners: 69b Boutique, London’s hotspot for sustainable style since 2011. Home to conscious fashion & lifestyle brands, pre-loved items bought from 69b Boutique can be sold and bought at OWNI. We caught up with 69b owner, Emma Bonar, to go behind the brand. Keep reading to learn how 69b are doing things differently.

Meet Emma, the owner of 69b Boutique

When did you found 69b Boutique?

I bought 69b 2 years ago. It was founded in 2011 as London’s first store dedicated to a fairer fashion industry, bringing together designers who were socially and environmentally responsible. I’m a local, and I’ve been shopping there for years, and when I saw it was for sale during the pandemic I jumped at the opportunity.

What makes 69b different to other fashion retailers?

We only work with brands that are people and planet friendly. All the brands we work with must adhere to our policy on transparency and accountability. We have a detailed Brand Compliance audit covering sourcing, manufacturing and the environment which we ask new brands to complete before we start to work with them.

What does circularity mean to you?

Circularity is a mode of consumption involving sharing, reselling, reusing, repairing and recycling. There’s an argument that selling new clothes isn’t sustainable in itself, but circularity means garments can be reused multiple times before being recycled and beginning a new journey.

Why is 69b joining OWNI?

I’ve wanted to find a way of letting customers to resell their preloved 69b purchases for some time, but we simply don’t have the space in our little store and stock room to do it there. OWNI is a really simple way to list past purchases in a couple of clicks. I love their emphasis on circularity and their mission to reduce waste in the fashion industry.

What are you selling on OWNI?

I’m selling a beautiful black velvet jacket from Aussie brand ELK which I fell in love with when I first bought the store, but I’ve only worn it once and it’s been languishing in the back of my wardrobe ever since. I would love it to find a good home!

We're also selling a number of gorgeous pieces from past 69b collections at reduced prices, which you can shop here.
